The protective guard for the fuel pump is made to protect the plastic fuel connector found at the fuel pump outlet under the bike seat.
Due to the constant impacts (like seat bouncing) and vibrations, the connector can end up cracking or breaking. The TBI fuel guard fits right over the plastic fuel connector, reducing localized stress and movement.
